Stanley Leads UNC At Day 1 Of Hokie Invite

Stanley won the 600 with a time of 1:32.02, nearly a full second ahead of second place Natalie Woodford of Virginia Tech (1:33.01). Senior Zoey Russell also took eighth in the event in 1:35.58. On the men's side, junior Clayton Parros took 4th in 1:19.81 and freshman Javonte Lipsey finished right behind in 5th (1:20.00).
Senior Danielle Brock took second in the women's 60-meter hurdles, running a time of 8.51, and sophomore Sandi Morris finished fourth in 8.78. In the men's 300, freshman O'Neal Wanliss took third in 35.11, and freshman Emma Norman took fifth in the women's 3,000 in 9:57.95.
In the field, senior Michelle Newman took third in the women's triple jump with a distance of 40-10 1/2, and sophomore Tristine Johnson placed fourth in the event at 40-9 1/2. Freshman Kayla Adams took eighth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 51-0 3/4.
The Hokie Invitational continues tomorrow, with field events starting at 11 a.m. and track events beginning at noon. Follow live results to track the Tar Heels throughout Saturday's competition.
