Tar Heels Brave The Elements On Sunday Afternoon

Chapel Hill, N.C.- The North Carolina Tar Heels braved the elements to hold a seven-and-a-half inning scrimmage on Sunday afternoon at oshamer Stadium. The home Heel squad took a 6-5 win after scoring the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh.
With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the third, Tommy Coyle's two-out bases-loaded single up the middle drove in two runs for a 4-2 Heel lead. The Tar squad was down 5-3 going into the top of the seventh before they scored two runs to tie the score before Heel plated the winning run in the bottom of the inning.
Chris O'Brien and Luis Paula were the two starters. George Carter, Cody Penny, Trevor Kelley, Hobbs Johnson, Mason McCullough, Tate Parrish and Michael Morin also threw.
Carolina's next closed scrimmage will be on Tuesday. TarHeelBlue will have exclusive coverage of all of Carolina's preseason scrimmages.
Scrimmage Highlights: The ground's crew's great work getting the field ready for play...Chaz Frank's lead-off triple in the first... Jacob Stallings great play on a sacrifice bunt attempt in the first...Chaz Frank's great diving catch with the bases loaded to end the bottom of the seventh.
Scrimmage Lowlight: The weather...a misty rain fell for the first three inning before ending and giving way to falling temperatures.
