Right-handed Pitcher
Leawood, Kan.
The Tar Heel closer appeared in all five wins this week, including a series sweep at No. 17 Clemson. Morin opened the week by notching saves in midweek wins over Davidson and at Elon. The Leawood, Kan., native entered in the eighth Friday night with the game-tying run at second and picked up a strike out before tossing a scoreless ninth to complete the third save in as many chances. After a three-run ninth by the Tar Heels Saturday, Morin came on and earned his second straight save of the weekend with a scorelessinning. A ninth inning rally that tied the Sunday contest saw Morin enter in the bottom of the ninth with the winning run at third base and the right-hander struck out Thomas Brittle to end the threat before picking up a big double play in the 10th and followed by tossing a 1-2-3 11th to earn his first win of the year. Morin is currently tied for most saves in the ACC with six on the year, four of which came this week. He has not allowed a run this season in 10 appearances spanning 12.1 innings and owns a 13/2 K/BB ration with opponents hitting only .209 on the year. After the four save week, Morin moved into fifth on the UNC all-time saves list with 19, passing Paul Shuey's mark of 18.
STEVEN RASTIVO

Junior Goalkeeper
South Setauket, N.Y.
Steven Rastivo was named the Most Valuable Player of UNC's game against Princeton in the 2012 Konica Minolta Face-off Classic in Baltimore, Md. After a midweek loss at Penn, Rastivo was the dominant player on the field against the Tigers as he made 16 saves (just 2 short of his career high) and allowed only eight goals in the nationally-televised win over PU. Rastivo's .667 save percentage in a game was the best of his career of any game in which he had at least 10 saves. Rastivo's play was essential to UNC's victory as Princeton outshot the Tar Heels 43-22 in the game. Rastivo had seven saves in the fourth quarter alone, including two in a four-second span with less than three minutes to play.
