WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The North Carolina track and field program opened its outdoor season campaign at the Wake Forest Open Friday. Four Tar Heels finished in the top eight in their events to lead UNC on the first day of the two-day invitational.
Freshman Sean Sutton took second in the men's 400, running a personal-best time of 47.59 in the event. In the women's pole vault, freshman Cameron Overstreet finished third, clearing a height of 12-7 1/2.
Freshman Brian Noreen took sixth in the men's 5,000 with a time of 15:04.26, and senior Alex Cremer took seventh in the men's 800 in 1:54.64.
