UNC Moves Up Rankings; Host Virginia Schools This Weekend

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After earning a pair of wins over in-state foes this past weekend, the 20th-ranked University of North Carolina men's tennis team returns to action again this coming Friday and Sunday when it hosts Virginia Tech and Virginia at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Coach Sam Paul'sTar Heels are on a three-match winning streak after defeating Wake Forest 6-1 last Friday and NC State 5-2 this past Sunday. Carolina has improved to 6-4 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in the ACC. In this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, UNC jumped 12 spots from #32 last week to #20 this week.
Both matches this weekend are open to the public and there is no admission charge at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Friday's match is set for a 3 p.m. start. The Hokies come to Chapel Hill ranked 68th in the latest ITA ranking. Virginia Tech is 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the ACC. Carolina is 23-1 all-time against the Hokies
On Sunday, UNC will meet up with third-ranked Virginia. The Cavaliers are 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the ACC heading into a match at 3 p.m. Friday against sixth-ranked Duke in Durham, N.C. UNC leads the all-time series against the Cavaliers 72-24 but will be seeking its first win over Virginia since 2004.
