Carolina (27-4) wins the ACC regular season championship with a 14-2 record after beating the Blue Devils, 88-70, in Durham.

The win gives Carolina its 29th regular-season ACC title - the 19th outright.

This is the 15th time in 24 seasons as a head coach that Roy Williams has led either Kansas or North Carolina to a regular-season conference championship (13th outright).

This is UNC's fifth win in its last seven games at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The 18-point win is Carolina's largest at Duke since winning, 91-71, in 1989.

The Tar Heels tied the school record for regular-season ACC wins with 14. This is the eighth time UNC has won 14 in league play, including 1957 (14-0), 1984 (14-0), 1987 (14-0), 1993 (14-2), 2005 (14-2), 2008 (14-2), 2011 (14-2) and 2012 (14-2). Four of the eight seasons have come under head coach Roy Williams.

Carolina has won the regular-season ACC title six times in Roy Williams' nine seasons as head coach.

The victory was Carolina's seventh straight road win. UNC finishes 8-2 on the road this year with a win at NCAA Tournament qualifier UNC Asheville and a one-point loss at #1 Kentucky in addition to league play.

The Tar Heels finished ACC play 7-1 on the road, the third time Carolina has won seven or more ACC road games under head coach Roy Williams. UNC went 7-1 on the road in 2006 and 2012 and 8-0 in 2008.

Roy Williams has tied former Duke coach Vic Bubas for first in ACC history in road winning percentage. The Tar Heels are 48-24 (.667) in ACC play on the road in Williams' nine seasons as head coach.

Tonight was the seventh time Carolina and Duke played a winner-take-all finale for the ACC regular-season championship. The Tar Heels have now won five of those seven games, including two seasons in a row.

The Tar Heels are 30-5 in their last 35 regular-season ACC games.

Carolina is now 17-11 under head coach Roy Williams when both teams are ranked in the Top 10 in the Associated Press poll (Duke was #4, UNC #6).

Duke and Carolina are now 35-35 when both teams are ranked in the AP Top 25.

Carolina shot 54.5 percent from the floor, its highest in any ACC game this year and its highest since shooting that same mark against Appalachian State on Dec. 17th.

The Tar Heels shot 52.6 percent from the floor in the first half and 57.1 percent in the second half. That's the first time UNC shot 50 percent in both halves since the Appalachian State game on Dec. 17th.

The Tar Heels made 12 of 15 free throws for 80 percent. That is the fifth straight game UNC has shot 75 percent or better from the line.

Kendall Marshall had 20 points and 10 assists, Tyler Zeller had 19 points and 10 rebounds and John Henson had 13 points and 10 rebounds - this was the first time UNC had three double-doubles in a game since Dec. 20, 2003, a triple overtime loss against Wake Forest (Jawad Williams, Sean May and Raymond Felton).

This was the second time in four games that Marshall had at least 20 points and 10 assists (also had 22 and 13 at NC State).

This was the second time in his career that Marshall led the Tar Heels in scoring. The other time was three games ago at NC State when he had 22.

John Henson posted his ACC-leading 16th double-double. Tyler Zeller posted his 11th double-double of theyear, the second-most in the league.

Kendall Marshall set a school record tonight with this 13th double-figure assist game this year. Ed Cota had 12 in 2000. Marshall is tied for second in ACC single-season history, two behind Chris Corchiani.

Marshall's 10 assists give him 299 on the season. He set the UNC record in the previous game and is now tied for second with Corchiani in ACC single-season history. Marshall needs five assists to set the ACC record.

Reggie Bullock scored 12 points at Duke, his fifth time in double figures in the last six games. It was his second straight game with 12 points, matching his scoring high since he joined the starting lineup 12 games ago.

All five Tar Heel starters scored in double figures for the second time this season (also at NC State).

The Tar Heels are now 23-0 in the last two seasons when Marshall hands out at least nine assists.

Carolina concludes regular-season play in the ACC with an all-time mark of 608-241. No other school has more than 559 ACC wins.

Since the 85-84 loss to Duke, the Tar Heels have won seven straight games, allowing 70 or more points in just two of the seven games (74 at NC State in a 12-point win and 70 at Duke in an 18-point triumph). Five of the seven opponents scored 64 or fewer points, including 52 by Virginia, 52 by Clemson and 51 at Virginia.

The win was the 670th of Roy Williams' career. His teams are now 670-167 overall, 252-66 at Carolina and 105-39 in ACC regular-season play.

Carolina enters the 2012 ACC Tournament as the No. 1 seed for the 24th time overall and the sixth time in the last nine years (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012). The Tar Heels are 86-40 in ACC Tournament and have won the title 17 times.

Carolina is 9-4 in ACC Tournament games played in Atlanta, Ga. The Tar Heels lost to NC State in the 1983 semifinals in the Omni, lost to Georgia Tech in the 1985 final in the Omni, beat Duke in the 1989 championship game in the Omni, lost to Duke in the 2001 championship game in the Georgia Dome and lost to Florida State in thesemifinals in 2009 in the Georgia Dome.

Carolina has never played in Phillips Arena, home of the 2012 ACC Tournament.
