CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 10 North Carolina returns to action Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against visiting Winthrop after its annual exam break bye weekend. The Tar Heels will have the services of 2011 Baseball America Freshman of the Year Colin Moran back in the lineup this week after the third baseman missed the last 21 games due to injury. UNC held serve without Moran in the lineup as it posted a 13-8 record.
Last Week
The Tar Heels went 1-1 on the week with an 8-4 setback against UNC Greensboro on Tuesday before bouncing back with a 1-0 extra inning victory over East Carolina on Wednesday.
Carolina let a 4-1 lead after the first inning slip away on Tuesday as the Spartans chipped away before blowing the game open in the later innings. With the exam bye weekend the Tar Heels turned to Friday night starter Kent Emanuel on Wednesday and the sophomore left-hander delivered 8.1 innings of scoreless ball.
One of Chaz Frank's three hits on the night came in the 10th when he hit a single up the middle to plate the game's only run and give UNC a 1-0 win over the Pirates.
