Pair Of Tar Heels Named To All-Tournament Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- Senior outfielder Kelli Wheeler and junior third baseman Haleigh Dickey were named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Tournament Team Saturday evening. ACC Tournament Champion Georgia Tech led the squad with four selections, including Most Valuable Player Hope Rush. Tournament runner-up Virginia Tech also had four selections.
Wheeler finished the tournament 2-for-6 at the plate for a .333 batting average. The Marietta, Ga., native tallied a three-run home run in the Tar Heels' quarterfinal victory over Boston College. Dickey went 4-for-7 at the plate to post a .571 tournament batting average.
North Carolina will now await word from the NCAA Softball Selection Show to see if it receives an at-large bid to the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The selection show will air on ESPNU Sunday, May 13, at 10 p.m. Stay tuned to TarHeelBlue.com for more updates.
