Tar Heels Drop Exhibition To UNC-Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. — North Carolina dropped a 2-1 decision to UNC-Wilmington Wednesday night in its opening exhibition match of the season. The match was played in a three period format with neither team wearing jersey numbers. Carolina will play at UNC Greensboro Saturday night in a second exhibition match at 7 p.m. Complete statistics were not kept.
The Tar Heels are current training at Ocean Isle, N.C. and will return to Chapel Hill for a Friday night practice prior to playing the Spartans.
UNC's goal came at 25:45 of the first period as Alyssa Rich scored off an assist by Bianca Gray. Gray sent a cross from the left hand side endline into the box that Ball headed home. UNCW equalized in the second period at 59:33 as Stephanie Rose scored off an assist by Stephanie Bronson. The Seahawks earned their second goal as Rose scoring on a penalty kick at 82:51.
