No. 3 North Carolina (4-1-1) hosts in-state foe Davidson (3-2-1) Tuesday night in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
The Tar Heels will be looking to start a winning streak Tuesday after going 0-1-1 a week ago. Carolina dropped a 1-0 decision at James Madison on Tuesday before drawing, 0-0, against Wake Forest on Friday.
The Carolina defense has been impressive in the early portion of the season as the Tar Heels have allowed just two goals in five matches, only one of which came during the run of play.
The 0.32 goals against average the Tar Heels enter Tuesday's match with leads the ACC and is tied for the third-lowest mark in the country. In addition to returning starters Jordan Gafa, Jordan McCrary and Boyd Okwuonu, freshman Jonathan Campbell has filled in nicely for the departed Matt Hedges.
Senior goalkeeper has registered a .882 save percentage on the year to rank in the top 10 and with one more clean sheet will become Carolina's all-time leader in shutouts with his 29th. Goodwin would pass Michael Ueltschey (1998-2001), who recorded 28.5 shutouts in his career.
Carolina will be looking to avenge one of its two losses from a year ago when the Wildcats tallied the game winner in the 82nd minute with a strike from distance off the foot of Jake Keator.
The setback set in motion a 16-match unbeaten streak that was snapped a week ago.
