Two Tar Heels at LPGA Qualifying

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Two University of North Carolina golfers, Catherine O'Donnell and Allie White, are tied for 34th place at the LPGA Qualifying School Tournament - Stage I. Both players shot an even par 72 in Tuesday's first round of play.
O'Donnell, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is a four-time selection to the All-ACC team (2009-2012), Carolina's first four-time honoree. The 2009 ACC Freshman of the Year, O'Donnell won three tournaments during her collegiate career including the 2012 NCAA West Regional. She was named to the 2012 NGCA (National Golf Coaches Association) All-West Region Team after being selected to the 2011 NGCA All-East Region Team and a 2011 NGCA All-America Honorable Mention. She was named 2011 Ping Golfweek All-America Third Team after being an Honorable Mention in 2009 and 2012.
White, from Lancaster, Ohio, is a three-time NGCA All-America Scholar. She was selected to the 2009 and 2011 All-ACC teams, was a 2009 Golfweek All-America Honorable Mention and named to the All-ACC Academic Women's Golf team in 2009, 2011 and 2012. She also represented the women's golf team as the 2012 Athletic Director's Scholar-Athlete.
Rachel Rohanna leads the 72-hole event after firing a 7-under-par 65. Three players are tied for second place at 5-under 67 - Lalita Patipaksiri, Kim Welch and Marta Silva. Michele Low is in fifth place at 4-under 68.
