Schneider Wins On Opening Day of ITA All-American

TULSA, OKLA. - Freshman Ronnie Schneider won his first round match in the 2013 Saint Francis ITA Men's All-American Championships Qualifying Phase Monday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. It was a tough day for the Tar Heels overall as Carolina went 1-3 in singles matches overall with all three losses coming in three sets.
Schneider needs two more singles wins to join UNC junior Esben Hess-Olesen in the main draw of the tournament which begins on Thursday.
Nelson Vick and Oystein Steiro won a convincing first-round doubles match Tuesday morning and joined Brett Clark and Esben Hess-Olesen in second-round matches Tuesday. Both of those teams earned lopsided victories in their second round matches, moving on to the third round to be held Wednesday.
