WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The North Carolina duo of Esben Hess-Olesen and Brett Clark, ranked 45th nationally, claimed victory in the final of the A doubles draw at the Wake Forest Tennis Center on Sunday.
The doubles team from Carolina edged Liberty's Jorge Azuero and Shea Thomas 8-6 to finish off a dominant run in Winston-Salem.
Also in the A doubles flight, Nelson Vick and Stuart DePaolo defeated Furman's Alex Christ and Matt Browne 8-3 to finish in seventh place.
In singles action, Brett Clark won his first collegiate singles title with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over teammate Nelson Vick on Monday.
Other Carolina players slated to compete in singles matches on Sunday were not able to play due to weather conditions.
"Congratulations to them [Clark and Hess-Olesen], they played well this weekend," said head coach Sam Paul. "We just have to keep getting better and we're looking forward to the ITA Carolina Regional."
