Tar Heel Rundown: October 24
October 24, 2013 | General
There were a ton of good Tar Heel-related stories yesterday. Lots of good stuff below to read today or Instapaper for later.
Football
T.J. Logan is glad to have a bigger role, but still hungry for the end zone...As he should be, Eric Ebron is the John Mackey national tight end of the week...Some informative history on the 1963 Carolina team that will reunite on Saturday...Ebron is making his case as the nation's best tight end...
Highlights from yesterday's post-practice media interviews:
Basketball
One of the coolest parts of Late Night on Friday: the Blue-White game is (sort of) back...Unless you attend the annual UNC coaching clinic, it's unusual to get this kind of X and O insight into one of Carolina's secondary break options, as Roy Williams diagrams the secondary break (and some must-see videos on the Tar Heels using that play)...The Tar Heels are glad to move beyond the offseason...A preview of Carolina's small forwards, including some discussion of James Michael McAdoo at that position...
Reggie Bullock will play for the Clippers for the first time tonight...Marvin Williams is slowly improving, but the Jazz have no timetable for his return...As expected, the Cavs exercised their option on Tyler Zeller...11 points and 9 rebounds for Ed Davis last night in a Memphis preseason loss...Vince Carter had 12 points for the Mavs...9 points and 8 assists for Ty Lawson...Kendall Marshall is having trouble finding minutes for the Suns and did not play last night...
Stuart Scott won't be hosting Late Night this year:

If you've fallen behind on what's happening with Carolina's Olympic sports, this is a speedy way to catch up:
Today's games

Tar Heels in the NFL
Hakeem Nicks is moving into the center of the eye of the storm that is the Giants. Now there's talk about his reliability.
Today in Tar Heel history
Happy birthday to Tar Heel defensive lineman Tim Jackson, who turns 22 today. We missed this the first time around, but this is a good feature on Jackson's academic work (along with that of defensive line teammate Kareem Martin):
Long read
(Magazine nerd alert!) Amazing layout and (writing nerd alert!) amazing writing in this SI piece on Bison Dele/Jason Williams and the mystery that surrounds his life and death.
