Tar Heel Spotlight: Megan Morrison
April 30, 2013 | Softball
GoHeels.com is highlighting each Carolina softball player this season, and today's Carolina softball Tar Heel Spotlight is with Megan Morrison, a senior catcher from Tucson, Ariz.
GoHeels.com: What is the best memory of your softball career so far?
Megan Morrison: My senior year we had the opportunity to play in my home state. Being in Arizona was so much fun, and it was nice to be at a place that I grew up around. I had a great weekend with two home runs and loved every minute of it. My family was able to come up and watch me play, which was something that I will never forget. The memories on and off the field are ones that I will cherish for a long time.
GH: How did you get started playing softball?
MM: I started when I was eight years old and havent stopped since. Either it was soccer or softball where I lived, and knowing me, I'm not very good with my feet, so I went with softball. All of my friends at the time were doing it, and I seemed to really enjoy it.
GH: Why Carolina?
MM: Having the best academic and athletic programs as well as being a part of the Carolina family is something that I have always wanted to be a part of.
GH: What is your favorite class this semester?
MM: Currently I am taking an entrepreneur class that allows us to be creative and have a business mindset. The class is EXSS 328 with Dr. Stroman, and I believe it is very helpful for the future since it is so close to what I want to do.
GH: What is your favorite pre-game snack?
MM: Fruit and peanut butter rackers and maybe a cookie
GH: What is your dream profession?
MM: To be a part of a marketing team for a well-known sports team
GH: What is your walk-up song?
MM: A variety of different songs from country to rap to techno
GH: If you played another sport, what would it be?
MM: I would love to play tennis because I believe that is a sport that you can play with others for the rest of your life.
