Top-Ranked Heels Visit Virginia Tech Friday On ESPN3

The No. 1-ranked North Carolina men's soccer team plays its second-road match this week when it faces Virginia Tech on Friday in Blacksburg, Va. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m., and can be seen on ESPN3.
Through five matches in 2013, the Tar Heels have gone into overtime in four games. Sophomore midfielder Raby George was the hero Tuesday night when he scored in the 97th minute of a 1-0 win at Campbell.
Keeper Brendan Moore made three saves to preserve his third clean sheet of the season.
North Carolina is in search of its first ACC victory after earning a pair of draws against No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 18 Maryland over the first two weeks of the league schedule. UNC is 6-3 against Virginia Tech since it joined the ACC back in 2004, however, the Hokies did come away with a 1-0 double overtime win in the last meeting in Blacksburg during the 2011 campaign.
Head coach Carolos Somoano picked up career victory No. 40 on Tuesday against the Camels, and in the process, improved his three-year record to 40-6-8 as the head boss at Carolina.
Virginia Tech improved to 3-1-1 overall after a 5-2 win over High Point on Tuesday night. Robert Alberti scored twice and assisted on another to lead the Hokies over the Panthers. In the ACC, Tech took down No. 17 Syracuse, 2-1, in overtime two weeks ago and last Friday settled for a 1-1 draw in Durham against Duke.
