CHAPEL HILL --- For the seventh consecutive year, supporters of the University of North Carolina baseball program will have the opportunity to kick off the upcoming season with a memorable evening at the Diamond Heels' First Pitch Dinner, scheduled for Jan. 31, 2015, at the Loudermilk Center For Excellence at Kenan Stadium on the UNC campus.
Bobby Evans, the vice president and assistant general manager of the World Champion San Francisco Giants, will be this year's featured speaker. Evans, a 1991 UNC graduate and former Morehead Scholar, has been with the Giants organization for 21 seasons and has helped lead the franchise to three titles in the last five years.
This year's event will begin at 5 p.m. with an MVP Reception with Evans and other special Carolina baseball guests prior to a silent auction and meet and greet session with the 2015 Tar Heels at 6 p.m. Special guests at the MVP Reception will include Seattle All Star third baseman and Gold Glove winner Kyle Seager and Los Angeles reliever Mike Morin. Other former Tar Heels expected to attend are Rob Wooten of the Milwaukee Brewers, Alex White, Colin Bates, Tim Fedroff, RC Orlan, Hobbs Johnson, Chaz Frank, Brian Holberton and Cody Stubbs. The dinner program will get underway at 7 p.m. and will feature a live auction.
