
Neuenfeldt Earns Academic All-District Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina volleyball player Paige Neuenfeldt has earned academic all-district honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Neuenfeldt, a 6-2 middle blocker from Birmingham, Mich., was named to the Capital One Academic All-District III Team for 2014. She is now eligible to earn Academic All-America honors, to be announced later this year.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
Neuenfeldt is enrolled in the Kenan-Flager Business School and is a spanish for professions minor. She has been named to the All-ACC Academic team twice and was named to the ACC Honor Roll for the 2013-2014 academic year.
On the court, Neuenfeldt has helped lead the Tar Heels to their highest ranking in program history. The No. 8 UNC volleyball team is 18-2 overall and 9-1 in the ACC. Neuenfeldt is leading the team with 1.44 blocks/set, which ranks No. 14 in Division I and No. 3 in the ACC. Neuenfeldt is also No. 3 on the team with a .307 season hitting percentage.
This past Friday, Neuenfeldt and the Tar Heels dropped Miami 3-0 in Chapel Hill. Neuenfeldt was the most efficient attacker for UNC, posting 8 kills on only 13 swings with no errors for a tremendous .615 hitting percentage.
North Carolina continues its successful season with a road match-up Friday against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Tar Heels defeated the Eagles 3-0 earlier this season at Carmichael Arena.
