Carolina Opens Spring With A Pair Of Wins

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The North Carolina men's soccer team got its spring season off to a good starter after garnering two victories this past weekend over South Carolina and Queens (N.C.).
The Tar Heels posted a 2-0 win over Queens in the first match of the day. David Walden and Verneri Valimaa each found the back of the net in the victory.
In the nightcap, Omar Holness opened the scoring against the Gamecocks, and Valimaa struck for the second time on the day for the game winner in a 2-1 victory.
Carolina is back in action Sunday, March 2 against Sigma FC, a Canadian soccer academy based in Toronto. The two matches will take place at Finley Soccer Field at 12 and 2:30 p.m.
