Men's Soccer Announces 2014 Signing Class

"We are ecstatic about the recruiting class our coaching staff has put together this year," said Somoano. "They're a group of young men who have the ambition and character to represent our university and our Tar Heel soccer family. We welcome them and their families to Chapel Hill."
Carolina will welcome seven high school seniors and two transfers - twin brothers Tucker and Walker Hume from Rollins College.
The trio of Walker Hume, Evan Krause and James Pyle have joined the program for the 2014 spring season.
Five of the seven high school players are ranked in the Top Drawer Soccer IMG Academy Top 150 - Krause, Andy Lopez, Pyle, Alan Winn and Zach Wright.

(Gulliver Prep School) • Soccer Academy of the Americas
Three-star performer according to Top Drawer Soccer • Four-year midfielder at Gulliver Prep School that scored 27 goals and 44 assists in his high school career • Columbian native that was named all-state as a junior after leading his team to a regional championship and top-four finish in the state tournament • Played club soccer for Soccer Academy of the Americas.
Luke Ciocca • D • 6-1 • Chapel Hill, N.C. (Chapel Hill HS) • Triangle United
Member of the ODP Region III Team from 2008-12 • Led his Triangle United club team to a Region III title in 2013 • Compiled 16 goals and 16 assists in three varsity seasons at Chapel Hill High School • Two-time all-region selection that was selected team captain in 2013 • Helped guide Chapel Hill to a #1 ranking in the state of North Carolina (3A).
Tucker Hume • F • 6-5 • San Angelo, Texas (Westlake HS/Rollins College) • Classic Elite
Started 31 games over two seasons at Rollins College, scoring 14 goals and eight assists as a forward • Named first team All-Sunshine State Conference in 2013 after scoring 10 goals and six assists • Won a PDL National Championship in 2013 with the Austin Aztex • Gatorade Player of the Year nominee during his time at Westlake High School • Played club soccer for Classic Elite.
Walker Hume • D • 6-5 • San Angelo, Texas (Westlake HS/Rollins College) • Classic Elite
Started 39 games over two seasons at Rollins College, scoring 12 goals and four assists as a defender • Selected first team All-America by Daktronics and the NSCAA as a sophomore in 2013 • Named the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Defender of the Year • Earned second and third team All-America honors as a freshman • 2012 SSC Freshman of the Year • Won a PDL National Championship in 2013 with the Austin Aztex • Played club soccer for Classic Elite.
Evan Krause • D • 5-9 • Cary, N.C. (Green Hope HS) • CASL
A four-star performer according to Top Drawer Soccer • TDS tabbed him the 11th best player at his position and No. 51 overall among the top 150 players in the country • Also ranked the No. 7 recruit in the South Atlantic region according to Top Drawer Soccer • Ranked the 76th-best prospect in the class of 2014 by College Soccer News • Led Green Hope High School to a 4A North Carolina state championship • Played club soccer for CASL.
Andy Lopez • M • 5-10 • Mission, Texas

A four-star performer according to Top Drawer Soccer • TDS tabbed him the 35th best player at his position and No. 102 overall among the top 150 players in the country • Also ranked the No. 10 recruit in the Texas region according to Top Drawer Soccer • Member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy dating back to 2010 • Younger brother of former Tar Heel standout Mikey Lopez, a member of Carolina's 2011 national championship team and current player at Sporting KC of the MLS • Four-year player at St. Stephen's Academy in Austin, Texas • Played club soccer for Lonestar FC and most recently, Sporting KC.
James Pyle • GK • 6-2 • Charlotte, N.C. (Ardrey Kell HS) • Charlotte Soccer Academy
A four-star performer according to Top Drawer Soccer • TDS tabbed him the 11th best player at his position and No. 149 overall among the top 150 players in the country • Also ranked the No. 13 recruit in the South Atlantic region according to Top Drawer Soccer • Member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, allowed the fewest goals in the U18 Southeast Division each of the last two seasons • Played club soccer for Charlotte Soccer Academy.

Ranked the fifth-best prospect in the class of 2014 by College Soccer News • A four-star performer according to Top Drawer Soccer • TDS tabbed him the fifth best player at his position and No. 9 overall among the top 150 players in the country • Also ranked the No. 1 recruit in the Texas region according to Top Drawer Soccer • U.S. U18 Men's National Team member • Selected to NSCAA Youth Boys All-America Team in 2013 • Played club soccer at Solar Chelsea.
