CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina junior pitcher Chris McCue underwent successful procedures Saturday and Sunday to treat a blood clot in his right shoulder and will be sidelined indefinitely.
"Obviously our No. 1 concern is the health and well-being of Chris," head coach Mike Fox said. "Our players, coaches, doctors and athletic trainers will do everything we can to support him both physically and emotionally during his recovery."
McCue is under the care of the vascular surgery team at UNC Hospitals and is expected to make a full recovery.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., and a graduate of Ardrey Kell High School, McCue had a league-high seven saves in seven appearances as a junior.
