CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina junior Haley Watts has qualified for the NCAA Athens Regional in the all-around competition. She will compete on Saturday, April 5 at 4 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga.
North Carolina did not qualify as a team for regionals, but Watts made the competition based on her regional qualifying score in the overall rankings. Watts is one of five individuals that will be competing in addition to the six teams that qualified for the Athens regional. Of those five, Watts is the No. 2 seed heading into the postseason competition.
"We're excited for Haley and proud of what she has accomplished this season," said head coach Derek Galvin. "She's ready for the competition and her teammates will be cheering her on."
Watts will be paired with Michigan. The Wolverines, and Watts, will start the meet with a bye as their first rotation, and then head to the floor exercise. Earlier this year, Carolina and Michigan faced each other in a four-team meet at NC State.
