Carolina Set To Close Out Regular Season With NC State

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Tar Heels close out regular season play when they host ACC rival NC State for a three-game series this weekend.
UNC and NC State will play a doubleheader on Saturday, with Senior Day festivities beginning at 12:45 p.m. prior to to the first game. Game three will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission and parking is free for all home Carolina softball games, and all three games will be streamed live through GoHeels TV.

Weekend Promotions:
• Senior Day festivities begin at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Come out to honor and celebrate Carolina's four graduating seniors: Ashley Bone, Sara Buchholz, Amy Nece and Lori Spingola.
• There will be a Bounce House for kids to play in.
• UNC football quarterback Marquise Williams will be throwing out the first pitch for game one.
• The Tar Heels will hold an autograph session after game two on Saturday.
• Sunday is Country Music Day.
Scouting the Matchup:
Carolina is 25-48 all-time against the Wolfpack. In 2013, UNC took game one 2-1, but NC State hit walk-off homers in games two and three to take the series 2-1.
North Carolina: UNC is 22-23 overall and and ranks fifth in ACC standings with a 13-9 mark. The Tar Heels have had four games rained out this week and last played on Friday against No. 6/7 Alabama as the Crimson Tide held on for a close 4-3 win.
Jenna Kelly (.353) leads Carolina with 35 RBIs, 30 runs and 47 hits, including 10 home runs. Kristen Brown (.322) has a team-high 44 RBIs and 36 runs and has tallied 12 homers, as has Amber Parrish, who has 35 RBIs for the year. In the circle, Lori Spingola is 16-12 with a 3.23 ERA and has fanned 135 in 162.2 innings. Lauren Batten (4.09 ERA) is 4-4, and Kendra Lynch (5.40 ERA) is 1-6.
NC State: The Wolfpack is 30-14 and fourth in the ACC with a 14-7 record after splitting a doubleheader with No. 21 Notre Dame on Tuesday. Renada Davis leads NC State with 34 runs and 26 RBIs, tallying 13 homers and 10 doubles for the year while posting a .359 batting average and a .733 slugging percentage. Lana Van Dyken (.357) has 23 runs and 13 RBIs, while Molly Hutchinson has posted 30 RBIs and eight home runs. Emily Weiman is 25-11 in the circle with a 2.21 ERA and 219 strikeouts in 222 innings. Courtney Mirabella is 5-3 with a 3.64 ERA and 64 strikeouts.
