Tar Heels Host East Carolina Tuesday

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina plays for the final time before a six-day final exam break when the Tar Heels host East Carolina Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium. Tuesday's contest is the second in a home-and-home series that opened last Tuesday, a 3-2 Pirate win in Greenville. Carolina is 27-18 on the year and has won four straight after a three-game sweep of Virginia Tech last weekend. East Carolina is also 27-18 following a series win at Florida Atlantic last weekend in Boca Raton, Fla.

CAROLINA-EAST CAROLINA SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 50-26 all-time against East Carolina, including a 19-4 record under head coach Mike Fox.
• East Carolina won the first meeting of the year 3-2 on April 22 in Greenville. It was ECU's first win in the series in exactly five years.
• The UNC-ECU series has been full of memorable moments in recent seasons. Fox's first
win as the head coach of North Carolina came against the Pirates in 1999, while the Tar
Heels have faced ECU in NCAA tournament play four times since 2007, winning all four.
• Carolina has won 15 in a row against the Pirates in Chapel Hill, and the Tar Heels are 13-0 at home under Fox in the series. ECU's last win at Boshamer Stadium came in 1994.
