UNC Softball Celebrates Seniors, Season At Spring Banquet
April 30, 2014 | Softball
The Carolina softball program celebrated its four graduating seniors as well as the team's accomplishments this season at its annual team banquet Saturday evening at the William and Ida Friday Center in Chapel Hill.
Earlier in the day, the Tar Heels honored its graduating student-athletes, Ashley Bone, Sara Buchholz, Amy Nece and Lori Spingola, and support staff, Corey Rodigo (undergraduate student athletic trainer), Pamela Hughes (graduate student athletic trainer), Cameron Shoaf (head manager), and Catherine Mitchell (director of operations) with Senior Day festivities prior to game one of the UNC - NC State series.
This year's senior class has compiled a 140-82 overall record so far, with a 55-31 mark in ACC play. The Carolina softball class of 2014 has helped the program make two NCAA Regional appearances- in 2012 and 2013 - and finish as the runner-up in the 2012 ACC Tournament in addition to claiming the 2012 ACC Regular Season title.
In addition to the team's success over the past four years, senior pitcher Lori Spingola has rewritten the Carolina softball record book, setting seven new season and career pitching marks throughout her career.
Carolina Records Set by Lori Spingola:
• Career wins - 107 (2014)
• Single season appearances - 49 (2012)
• Single season wins - 33 (2012)
