Russell Adds Two More All-America Honors

North Carolina junior shortstop was named a third-team All-America performer by Baseball America the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the two organizations announced Wednesday. A native of Huntersville, N.C., Russell hit a team-high .339 and led the Tar Heels to a spot in the NCAA Gainesville Regional.
Russell led Carolina in all three slash categories with a .424 on-base percentage and a .496 slugging percentage. The second-team All-ACC shortshop also led the Tar Heels in hits, runs, doubles, home runs, total bases and stolen bases. Russell was a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy (nation's top player) and the Brooks Wallace Award (nation's top shortstop).
