North Carolina senior forward Andy Craven was named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week on Monday. The St. Simon Island, Ga., native was the difference maker in leading Carolina to a pair of 1-0 road victories last weekend. For his efforts he was also selected to both the College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer National Teams of the Week.
Sophomore Omar Holness debuted with the Jamaican Men's National Team on Tuesday in a friendly against Canada at BMO Field in Toronto. The Tar Heel midfielder entered the match in the 79th minute in the 3-1 setback to Les Rouges.

Former Carolina standout Logan Pause (2000-02) recently announced his retirement after a lengthy 12-year career in Major League Soccer. He spent his entire professional career with the Chicago Fire.
"It's with joy and humility that I announce this season will be my last as a professional soccer player," he told reporters and a majority of teammates in attendance. "I'm leaving the game and this profession with gratitude and joy to these gentlemen sitting next to me, this wonderful club, this fantastic city, wonderful teammates past and present."

Friday is the ACC opener with Carolina hosting Pittsburgh at Fetzer Field with kick off scheduled for 7 p.m. ESPN3 will have the live broadcast.
Promotions surrounding Friday include the "Family Friday" ticket package that features four tickets for only $10. It's also Kids Club Day at Fetzer Field and the team will sign autographs on the track after the match.
