Carolina-NC State Postgame Notes
January 15, 2015 | Men's Basketball
• Marcus Paige had season highs with 23 points, nine assists, five three-pointers and four steals. He did not commit a turnover and matched his season high with 36 minutes played. It was his most assists since having a career-high 10 in the 2013 ACC Tournament vs. Florida State.
• Tonight was Paige's 13th career 20-point game and his second this season. He had 21 against UCLA in The Bahamas in November.
• Paige has totaled 58 points in his last two trips to Raleigh vs. N.C. State.
• Paige went 5 for 5 from three-point range, which ties the second-most three-pointers in a game by a Tar Heel without a miss. Jason Capel went 6 for 6 in the 2001 ACC Tournament vs. Clemson, Hubert Davis went 5 for 5 vs. Alabama in 1989-90 and vs. Eastern Michigan in the 1991 NCAA Tournament.
• Paige's nine assists without a turnover equals his best single-game assist/error ratio. He also went 9/0 vs. McNeese State as a freshman. The nine assists equal his second-highest single-game figure as a Tar Heel.
• Paige's five three-pointers are his most since he had seven in Raleigh vs. NC State on Feb. 26, 2014. It's the fifth time in his career he's hit at least five three-pointers.
• Isaiah Hicks scored a career-high 12 points. It was his fourth time this season in double figures. His previous scoring high was 11 vs. UAB on Dec. 27.
• Kennedy Meeks had his seventh double-double of the season (ninth career) with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. He now leads the ACC with seven double-doubles in 2014-15.
• Carolina shot better than 50 percent from the floor in both halves for the first time in ACC play this season and just the second time all year (also vs. East Carolina on Dec. 7).
• The Tar Heels shot 58.3 percent from the floor in the first half, their highest mark in any ACC half this season and the third-best half of the year.
• Roy Williams is now 23-2 against N.C. State as UNC's head coach and 28-2 overall. Carolina is 10-2 against N.C. State in Raleigh under Williams.
• Carolina has won 17 of the last 18, 23 of the last 25 and 40 of the last 49 games versus N.C. State. Carolina is 60-45 against the Wolfpack in Raleigh, including 12-4 in PNC Arena.
