Hedges Added To USMNT Training Camp

The camp began on Jan. 12 and will run until Feb. 8. After 12 days in California, the team will head to Santiago in Chile for training from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29 as it prepares for its first friendly of the year against fellow 2014 World Cup side Chile on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua. Kickoff will be at 5 p.m. CT. The team will then return to the U.S. Soccer National Training Center.
Hedges, 24, has played in 93 of FC Dallas' 98 regular season matches since making his professional debut on April 5, 2012. The central defender has scored nine goals and has one assist since being drafted 11th overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. He was named captain of FC Dallas at the start of the 2014 season and led the team to its first playoff appearance since the 2011 season. FC Dallas went unbeaten in three MLS Cup playoff matches with a goals-against average of 0.66.
Hedges earned All-America and ACC Defender of the Year honors in 2011 with the Tar Heels. He played and started al 26 matches in leading Carolina's back line during the national championship campaign. He scored six goals and totaled 13 points in his only season in Chapel Hill.
The U.S. Men's National Team Camp culminates with a friendly against Panama on Feb. 8 in Carson. Kickoff at the StubHub Center is set for 1 p.m. PT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network.
