I'm A Tar Heel: Jordan McCrary
November 12, 2015 | Men's Soccer
Dear Tar Heel Fans,
I would like say thanks for making my five years here at Carolina an amazing journey. The experiences that I've gone through have given me nothing but great memories that I will never forget. Although I am from Marietta, Ga., I feel like Chapel Hill has become my home. Ever since I was a little kid I have wanted to become a Tar Heel. I still remember the day I won a UNC basketball at Six Flags and told my parents that one day I will come here for school.
To the fans, thank you for simply being the best. The chants of "stick it in, stick it in!,” and booing the opposing team every time they touch the ball will always bring a smile to my face. Every student-athlete has the dream of playing under the lights in a stadium, and after many years of playing I can say that here at the University of North Carolina my dream came true.
I would like to give a special thank you to the supporters and donors that may not always be at the games, but follow along from all over the country. Without the donors many athletes like myself would not have been given the chance to be apart of such an incredible family. Playing sports is a dream of mine, but being given an opportunity to get a degree from UNC is a honor that I will forever be appreciative of.
Over the past few years I have been a part of five different teams and two head coaches. With them I have won ACC regular season titles, ACC championships, and a national championship. Each team has taught me something different about soccer as well as life. Soccer is a game that has become a large part of my life. Through this game I have gained such close friendships that I now proudly call family. They make me want to truly embrace the "Carolina Way" day in and day out. I appreciate all of them for the bonds that we have made and for the lessons they have taught because I would not be who I am today without them.
UNC will always have a special place in my heart. I am grateful for all that you have done for me over the years. In my last semester I promise I will not let you down. I'm a proud member of this community and will continue to strive for the best at all times.
My name is Jordan McCrary and I am a Tar Heel!
