♦ The Tar Heels commited a season-low six turnovers, three in each half. Carolina had only one turnover inside of last 11 minutes.
♦ Carolina went 24 for 28 from the free throw line (.857). It was the fourth time in last five games UNC has shot better than 80 percent from the line.
♦ It was only the third loss in 162 games under Roy Williams in which UNC shot 50 percent or better from the field and lost.
♦ Texas outscored Carolina, 21-7, in second-chance points.
♦ Tar Heels shot 54.2 and 50 percent from floor in the first & second halves. UNC has shot 50 percentor better in seven straight halves.
♦ Marcus Paige led UNC with 20 points, his 19th career 20-point game. Ties All-America Dennis Wuycik for 29th place in Carolina history.
♦ Paige tied Wuycik for 29th in UNC history in scoring with 1,469 points.
♦ Paige became Carolina's all-time leader in three-point field goals with 234. He had 234 threes and is now one ahead of Shammond Williams.
♦ Texas is the first team to out-rebound Carolina this year (36-27). Tar Heels had a season-low four offensive boards (previous low was nine in loss at Northern Iowa).
♦ Isaiah Hicks scored a season-high 14 points and made a career-best eight (of 10) free throws. It was his 10th career double-figure scoring effort.
♦ Carolina's four offensive rebounds were its fewest in the Roy Williams era.
