Tar Heels Jump To No. 3 In National Polls

Tar Heel Poll Notes
• North Carolina is ranked No. 3 in this week's Associated Press and USA Today Coaches top 25 polls, jumping six spots from No 9 in both polls last week.
• UNC has been in the top 10 of both polls for all five weeks during the 2015-16 season.
• The Tar Heels began the 2015-16 season atop both polls, holding the AP's top spot outright and sharing the No. 1 ranking in the coaches poll with Kentucky. UNC started the season in the AP top 10 for the 10th time in 13 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
• Carolina is ranked in the AP poll for the 28th week in a row.
• Last year, UNC finished 12th in the coaches poll and 15th in the AP poll after it went 26-12, reached the ACC Tournament final and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Looking Back…
• Ranked No. 9 last week, Carolina beat No. 2 Maryland, 89-81, in Chapel Hill last Tuesday. The team followed up that win with a 98-65 home win over Davidson on Sunday.
Coming Up...
• This week, the Tar Heels will will finish fall semester final exams, then visit Texas on Saturday afternoon in Austin.
ACC Teams in the Poll
• There are five Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week's AP poll, including No. 3 Carolina, No. 8 Duke, No. 10 Virginia, No. 17 Miami and No. 22 Louisville.

• Carolina has been ranked in 844 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 631 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky.
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the AP poll in 53 of the poll's 67 seasons, including 47 of the last 50. Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 34 times, including 23 of the last 35 years.
