Lane and Watts Earn EAGL Weekly Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Two Tar Heel gymnasts – Morgan Lane and Haley Watts – earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) honors after standout performances in a quad meet in Raleigh, N.C. on Sat, Feb. 20. Lane was named EAGL Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season while Watts was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the second time.
In the Tar Heels' second trip to Reynolds Coliseum this season, Watts had a stellar performance in the all-around competition, finishing second with a score of 39.025. She placed in the top 12 of all four rotations. On vault, Watts scored a 9.800, tying for seventh place. She notched a 9.725 on beam, placing sixth. Watts scored a 9.750 on bars and floor, tying for twelfth on both events.
On Sat, Feb. 20, Lane won the all-around competition for the third consecutive week. She tallied a season-high score of 39.275. She scored in the top six of all four rotations. Lane notched a 9.825 on the balance beam, taking first place among all competitors. On the vault, she tied for second place with a season-high score of 9.825. Lane tied for fifth on the uneven bars, notching a 9.800, and tied for sixth on the floor exercise, scoring a 9.825.
