Brown Earns ACC Player of the Week Honors For Second Time
March 30, 2015 | Softball
Chapel Hill, N.C. – University of North Carolina shortstop Kristen Brown has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference softball Player of the Week.
Brown continues to thrive at the plate, belting four more long balls this week to bring her total up to 17 on the season. She blasted a three-run home run against James Madison to keep UNC alive in the first game of a doubleheader and belted two more, a three-run and a solo shot, in a one-sided win over Virginia in game two of that series. In game three of the sweep, the nation's leader in homers hit a two-run dinger, her 13th in the last 15 games, to break the UNC record for home runs in a single-season. To go along with her home runs, the junior finished the week with nine hits, 13 RBI and seven runs while hitting .529 with a 1.294 slugging percentage.
This is Brown's second ACC Player of the Week honor of 2015.
