#1 UNC Sweeps ECU, Charlotte

UNC (15-0) recorded a 4-0 win in the morning against ECU (9-3), and then returned in the afternoon to post a 7-0 shutout of the host 49ers (3-4).
Carolina eased past the Pirates with a doubles-point victory coming on courts 1 and 3, and then continued their domination with wins at the first three singles positions to post the sweep. The Tar Heels surrendered only 10 points total on courts 1-3 with No. 8 Jamie Loeb, No. 19 Hayley Carter and No. 15 Caroline Price all earning straight-set victories.
In the afternoon, Loeb and Price on court one and Carter and Whitney Kay on court three earned doubles victories for the second time on Saturday to open the scoring in favor of the Tar Heels, who haven't lost the doubles point all year long.
It wound up a clean sweep in singles for Carolina over the 49ers. Carter and Kay were pushed to a third set on courts one and three, respectively, while Price, Ashley Dai, Kate Vialle and Marika Akkerman all won in two sets.
In fact, Dai was most impressive, winning 6-0, 6-0, on court four, while Akkerman, the rookie from Canada, picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
North Carolina jumps back into ACC play next weekend, visiting No. 25 Notre Dame on Friday in South Bend, Indiana at 1 p.m. and Louisville on Sunday in Louisville, Kentucky at 11 a.m.
