Four Tar Heels Tapped For All-ACC Teams
April 27, 2015 | Men's Tennis
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Four members of the 2015 University of North Carolina men's tennis team were named Monday morning to the 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Team.
Sophomores Brayden Schnur and Ronnie Schneider were named first-team All-ACC while junior Brett Clark was named to the second team and sophomore Jack Murray was named to the third team.
Schnur, Schneider and Clark earned All-ACC honors for the second successive year while this is the first All-ACC honor for Murray. After struggling with injuries to several starters, including Schnur who won the ITA indoor singles championship last November, UNC rallied at the end of the year to finish 21-10 and 8-4 in the ACC. UNC is currently ranked 16th in the nation.
Murray, Schneider and Clark finished with 29, 27 and 24 singles wins, respectively, while Schnur was 10-6 against nationally-ranked opponents this year. Clark led the Tar Heels in doubles wins this season with 24, followed closely by Schneider with 23 and Murray with 22.
Eleven ACC institutions had representatives on the All-ACC team, led by Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech with four honorees. Wake Forest garnered three accolades while Florida State, Louisville and NC State had two honorees apiece. Clemson, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame rounded out the field with one representative each.
Individual honors, as well as the All-ACC teams, were determined by a vote of the league's 13 head coaches.
