
Moss, Seymore Honored At Chancellor's Awards

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Two UNC student-athletes were honored at the 2015 Chancellor's Awards, held on April 22. The ceremony, which took place in the Great Hall at the Frank Porter Graham Student Union, is the only campus-wide student recognition program at UNC.
Benton Moss, a senior on the baseball team, received the Jim Tatum Memorial Award, which is given annually to a varsity student-athlete who has performed with distinction in his or her sport and who has contributed to the University community through constructive participation in co-curricular activities.
This award was established in 1959 in honor of James M. Tatum, head football coach, 1942 and 1956 through 1958. For a list of past winners, click here.
Sasha Seymore, a senior on the men's basketball team, was honored with the Chi Omega Award for Scholarship and Leadership. It is presented annually to the senior student in the curriculum in global studies who is chosen as most outstanding on criteria of scholastic achievement and exemplary leadership.
Moss, from Enfield, N.C., is working toward a double major in business and economics. He was honored Wednesday with the Top 10 Scholar-Athlete Award for having earned one of the top cumulative grade point averages among UNC's senior student-athletes.
Seymore, from New Bern, N.C., is working toward a double major in business administration and global studies. This year he served as UNC's Senior Class President.
Both Moss and Seymore attended North Carolina on Morehead-Cain Scholarships, the most prestigious academic grant awarded at UNC.
