Moss Earns Third Academic All-District Honor

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the third year in a row, North Carolina pitcher Benton Moss has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, announced on Friday. The award requires at least a 3.3 grade point average and is also based on athletic performance. All-District honorees are in the running for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this month.
Moss, a right-hander from Enfield, N.C., is a business/economics double major who completed his degree this semester. On Sunday, during UNC's spring commencement, he'll be at Notre Dame preparing to take the mound as the team's Sunday starter. He heads into the weekend with 7-0 record and an ERA of 2.68.
He ranks fourth in school history in career strikeouts, fifth in winning percentage, and sixth in career innings pitched.
Moss was honored last month with the ACC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award as the senior male student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. He attends UNC on a Morehead-Cain Scholarship, the school's most prestigious academic grant, and serves as a student representative to the Faculty Athletics Committee.
