July 15, 2015 | Men's Soccer
Ashe was a standout at North Carolina from 2003-06. He started all 23 matches in 2005, leading UNC to the NCAA quarterfinals.
Ashe will be available for selection in the Lions' home game against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 18, strengthening City's backline.
“Corey brings a high level of experience and league success to the Lions,” said General Manager Paul McDonough “We expect to see his immediate contributions to the Club and look forward to having him in Orlando City purple.”
The speedy left-back joins Orlando City after making over 200 appearances with the Houston Dynamo – ranking second on the Dynamo's all-time appearance list.
Ashe's career highlights also include an MLS Cup (2007), two MLS All-Star appearances (2011 and 2013), and a CONCACAF Gold Cup Championship with the U.S. Men's National Team (2013).
The Virginia Beach, Virginia, native began his career in 2007 with the Dynamo. Ashe featured in 22 games and six starts in his inaugural campaign – the most by a Dynamo rookie – prior to becoming a crucial piece of the team during his nine-year tenure with the club.
