Grice Leads Tournament After First Round

MAYETTA, Kan. – Casey Grice is leading the way at the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Charity Classic. The former Tar Heel shot 5-under 67 on Friday to lead the tournament after the first day.
Grice turned in a solid score card with six birdies to just one bogey. Grice birdied three of the first four holes to get off to a great start. Grice hit nine of 14 fairways while only having 26 putts in the first round. She also had a whopping driver distance of 263 yards.
Former Carolina standout Allie White is in the top 25 at even par. White had three birdies and three bogeys, but was nearly perfect off the tee hitting 13 of 14 fairways.
Another former Tar Heel golfer Catherine O'Donnell shot 2-over-par 74. O'Donnell got off to a strong start with two birdies in the first five holes to go to 2-under-par. She finished the round with three bogeys, a double bogey and one birdie. A bright spot for O'Donnell in the day was her driving accuracy as she hit 12 of 14 fairways. She enters the second round tied for 57th.
Katherine Perry finished day one at 6-over-par 78. Perry was very solid off the tee hitting 13 of 14 fairways.
