Tar Heels Travel To Lady Paladin Invitational
September 19, 2015 | Women's Golf
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of North Carolina women's golf team will compete at the Lady Paladin Invitational starting Sunday. The team is coming off a tied for 12th performance at the Cougar Classic last weekend.
“The Lady Paladin Invitational will be another good test for the Tar Heels,” head coach Jan Mann said. “The course has a traditional layout with small greens and tree lined fairways. We know that the team can play very well at this tournament with their ball striking, course management, and short game. They are eager to compete again and looking forward to making a few more putts this weekend. The team worked hard in practice yesterday by being more relaxed on the green and being more intuitive in their reads. We know that if they can do these two things, they will have a great weekend in Greenville.”
The Tar Heel will face 16 teams in the field and will see a few common faces. Clemson, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech will join UNC as the four ACC schools competing in the tournament.
Senior Elizabeth Mallett, junior Leslie Cloots, sophomores Bryana Nguyen and Lexi Harkins, and freshman Kelly Whaley will be North Carolina's five person roster. Rachel Jones will travel with the team and compete as an individual at the Lady Paladin Invitational.
Live scoring will be available on Birdiefire.com. GoHeels.com will have a recap after the conclusion of each day. The Lady Paladin Invitational is being played at Furman University Golf Course, which features a par 72, 6,083-yard layout.
