Carolina Shuts Out UNCG, NC Central

It took just over an hour and a half to top UNCG (0-1) in the afternoon. Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer were the first off in doubles with a 6-1 win on court two. Hayley Carter and Jessie Aney clinched the opening point on court one with a 6-2 victory.
The Tar Heels won in straight sets on courts 1-5, not surrendering more than two points to any Spartan opponent. On court six, sophomore Maggie Kane went to three sets, but won in come-from-behind fashion to make it a clean 7-0 sweep.
After the win over UNCG to keep the Tar Heels unbeaten on the season, UNC faced off against the NCCU Eagles (0-1) in the second match of Wednesday's doubleheader looking to move to a perfect 6-0 in 2016.
In doubles matchups, Dai and Ouellet-Pizer again teamed up for a win, this time 6-0 over the Eagles' Mia Ramic and Lynsey Cover. The Jessie Aney/Kane duo topped Gabriel and Jeremic 6-0 to secure the doubles point for the Tar Heels.
In singles, Marika Akkerman put away Mia Ramic with a score of 6-0, 6-0 to give the Tar Heels a 2-0 advantage. Dai got the Heels closer to clinching the matchup with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Tamara Jeremic.
UNC quickly advanced its lead to 5-0 with nearly simultaneous wins from 68th-ranked Aney and #112 Ouellet-Pizer on Courts 2 and 4, respectively.
Singles matches concluded with wins for No. 6 Carter (6-0, 6-4) and No. 94 Cassandra Vazquez (6-0, 6-2).
North Carolina (6-0) will face No. 9 Texas A&M at 12 p.m. Sunday in Chapel Hill.
