CHAPEL HILL - The Carolina softball team reported to Eugene G. Anderson Stadium on Friday, January 8, for the first practice of the 2016 season. The team worked on fielding and base running in the morning, then returned after lunch for batting practice.

The Tar Heels open the season on Friday, Feb. 12, against North Dakota State at the Texas Classic. Carolina's home opener is set for Friday, Feb. 19, against Northwestern to open the first annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
