Carolina Hosts 41st Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL – The University of North Carolina women's golf team will host the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational this Friday through Sunday. This marks the 41st year of the prestigious tournament.
The Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational is considered one of the best tournaments during the fall season. The field always includes top teams from around the country and this year is no exception. Nine teams that qualified for the NCAA Championships last year will be in the 18-team field. Besides North Carolina, the others are Alabama, Duke, Arkansas, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio State and Michigan.
Carolina will feature two different teams at the tournament this year. Carolina will have a Blue and White team. The Blue team features the normal starting lineup in Kelly Whaley, Leslie Cloots, Lexi Harkins, Bryana Nguyen and Brynn Walker. The White team features Mariana Ocano, Killian Casson, Cheni Xu, Rachel Jones and Roshnee Sharma. Leslie Cloots and Lexi Harkins finished within the top 10 just a year ago in the tournament.
Duke's Virginia Elena Carta won the NCAA Championships as an individual last year and will compete in the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational this year. Alabama's Cheyenne Knight and Tennessee's Anna Newell will also compete in the tournament this week. They tied for fourth at the NCAA Championships last year.
Live stats will be provided on Golfstat.com. Teams will be teeing off holes No. 1 and 10 beginning at 8:51 a.m. off No. 10 and 9:09 a.m. off No. 1 with nine minute intervals between each group. Sunday will be a shotgun start. North Carolina's Blue team will tee off No. 1 at 9:09 a.m. The White team will tee off No. 1 at 10:39 a.m.
The beautiful UNC Finley Golf Course features a par 72, 6,379-yard layout. The weather looks wonderful and fans are encouraged to attend.
