By: UNC Athletic Communications

VENICE, FLA. – Maia Schechter posted her second 68 at the LPGA Qualifying School Stage II Tournament on Friday to take the lead through the halfway point. Shechter's pair of 68s lead the 193-player field.

Schechter's 68 on Saturday included five birdies to just one bogey and leads second place by one stroke. Leslie Cloots posted a 75 to finish at 149 and tied for 79th. Katherine Perry shot a 78 and dropped to tied for 94th while Catherine O'Donnell shot 78 as well to tie for 121st.

Halfway through the tournament Schechter has built a buffer while the other Tar Heels have some work to do to finish in the top 80 and advance.
