UNC Hosts ACC Quarterfinals Against BC On Sunday

Carolina won the ACC Coastal Division for the second-straight season in 2016. Boston College advanced over ninth seed Virginia Tech in penalty kicks in a first round match to reach the quarterfinals.

HEAD-TO-HEAD IN ACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
North Carolina is 2-0 against Boston College in the ACC Championship, including a 3-1 win over the Eagles in the 2011 title match. The two clubs also met the previous season in 2010, a 1-0 Tar Heel victory.
BRUENING LEADS UNC OVER BC
Sophomore Nils Bruening scored four goals to pace No. 3 North Carolina to a 5-0 dismantling of 16th-ranked Boston College on Friday, Sept. 23 at Fetzer Field. Bruening wound up the most goals scored by a Carolina player since Ryan Kneipper tied the school record with five goals against Winthrop on Nov. 22, 2002.
CAROLINA 6TH IN NCAA RPI
Carolina is No. 6 in the latest RPI released by the NCAA on Oct. 31. The Tar Heels' schedule is made up of seven teams ranked in the top-30: Clemson (1), Syracuse (11), Notre Dame (12), Virginia (14), Boston College (22), ETSU (28) and Virginia Tech (29).

Carolina leads the nation in in team goals-against-average (0.42) and shutout percentage (0.69), and is third in fewest fouls (8.0) per game. On the offensive side, UNC is 9th in scoring (2.06) and tied for second with 42 assists.
SCORING LEADERS
Zach Wright leads Carolina with 16 points on five goals and is tied with freshman Cam Lindley with a team-leading six assists. Nils Bruening is second on the club with 15 points on a team-best seven goals, while Tucker Hume has 15 points (five goals, four assists) and Walker Hume has four goals, four assists and 12 total points.
Zeiko Lewis has 15 points on five goals and five assists, while Mazimillian Schulze-Geisthovel has a like 15 points with a team-topping seven goals.
SERIES HISTORY
Carolina leads the series 11-3-1 with Boston College. The Tar Heels have won the last seven meetings going back to 2010.
