
#1 Carter Clinches Win Over Notre Dame

In doubles, top ranked Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay won 6-1 on court one, and the No. 65 pair of Jessie Aney and Kate Vialle won 6-2 on court two to secure the opening doubles point for North Carolina, who improved to 19-2 overall and 7-0 in the ACC.
The Tar Heels grabbed a 2-0 lead when 65th-ranked Monica Robinson of the Fighting Irish retired after losing the first set, 6-3, to No. 29 Kay
Notre Dame's Mary Closs defeated Vaille, 7-5, 6-0 on court four to make it 2-1, before No. 53 Aney won 6-1, 6-1 on court three to take the match score to 3-1.
After a speedy first set win, No. 1 Carter came back from a second-set deficit to win 6-0, 6-4 and clinched the match for North Carolina to remain unbeaten at home in 2016.
With the victory already in hand, Carolina's Chloe Ouellet-Pizer fell to Brook Broda 6-3, 6-3, and later Marika Akkerman captured a tight match 6-2, 7-5, on court six. Notre Dame falls to 9-8, 3-5 on the year.
Carolina visits Duke on Tuesday, March 29th at 3 p.m.
