Tar Heels Sweep Cardinals 7-0

CHAPEL HILL - No. 3 North Carolina remains undefeated in the ACC with a Saturday afternoon 7-0 victory over Louisville at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
No. 1 doubles pair Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay kicked things off with a speedy 6-1 win over Sena Suswan and Ariana Rodriguez. The senior-freshman pair Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer secured the opening doubles point for the Tar Heels with their 6-3 win over Abby Pahz and Olivia Boesing.
In singles, No. 1 Carter dominated with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rodriquez, and No. 29 Kay picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Suswan to give the Heels a 3-0 lead.
Marika Akkerman clinched the match for North Carolina with a court five win over Boesing 6-2, 6-0. Carolina advances their season record to 21-2 overall and 9-0 in the ACC.
The Tar Heels finished up with wins from No. 53 Jessie Aney, 6-2, 7-5, Ouellet-Pizer 6-3, 7-5, and Cassandra Vazquez 6-4, 6-3 to shut out the Cardinals. They fall to 7-13 overall and 0-10 in the ACC for the year.
Carolina hosts No. 42 NC State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
