UNC Draws 1-1 With South Carolina
August 16, 2016 | Men's Soccer
Tar Heel freshman Mauricio Pineda scored the equalizer in the 13th minute to answer an early goal from the visiting Gamecocks by Kevin Walker.
Walker Hume fed Pineda in front of the goal connecting with a header to make it 1-1.
It was a family affair for two sets of brothers in the match. The aforementioned Hume and his twin bother, fellow red-shirt senior Tucker Hume, played together for the first time as Carolina teammates since joining the program from Rollins College in 2014.
Also, twin brothers James and William Pyle each played 45 minutes in goal for their respective teams. James played the second half for the Tar Heels, while William saw action in the first half for the Gamecocks.
North Carolina visits Davidson on Saturday at 6 p.m., in the final tuneup before the regular season begins versus Cal Poly on Aug. 26 in Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m.
