CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Morgan Lane and Khazia Hislop earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) honors after stellar performances in the home opener against third-ranked Florida. Lane was named Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Hislop earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Lane posted a season-high score of 39.250 in the all-around to extend her streak of 39.000 or better performances to 11 consecutive meets. That score earned her second place behind Florida's Alicia Boren (39.625). This was the best all-around score notched by any EAGL athlete during the third week of competition. She was also on the podium on the balance beam and floor exercise, as she notched scores of 9.875 to tie for third on both events.
In her second collegiate competition, Hislop had a stellar performance for the Tar Heels on Friday. She set a career-high of 9.925 on the floor exercise to finish in second place on the event. This was the highest individual event score achieved by any EAGL gymnast this past week. Hislop also set a career-best of 9.775 on the balance beam, which earned her second place on the apparatus.
Lane and Hislop, along with the remainder of the UNC gymnastics team, will be back in action on Friday as the team travels to Pittsburgh, Pa., for an EAGL battle against the Panthers at Fitzgerald Field House.
